The district Lagoa da Conceição is located in the geographical center of the island. The distance to the center of the town is about 20 Kilometers and to the airport more or less 16 kilometers. The beaches, the high dunes, the surrounding mountains and the largest lake of the island are the characteristic elements which are enriching the natural scenario of this district. For this very reason this place has crystallized to the most well-known touristic point of Florianópolis.

The most characteristic topics of Lagoa da Conceição are especially the extreme sport types which are practiced on the lake. Because of the strong winds you may observe wind-surfers, sailors, kayaks, kite-surfers, and jet-skis.

On the other hand the surf-riders do prefer the beaches in the neighborhood.Because of the rapid growing tourism the commerce could record a big rise in that district. There you will find the shopping-center “Via Lagoa” and many other shops, starting with surf-shops and ending-up with shops selling decoration stuff.

Furthermore many other small enterprises have settled in this area.Taking into account a rather big amount of bars and other establishments Lagoa da Conceição may be considered as the center of nightlife. There is a big choice for having dinner: typical pizzerias, Chinese and Japanese kitchen, Mexicans, traditional kitchen and lots of snack-bars.  There are also some of the best gourmet restaurants which the town has got. They will invite you to an unforgettable tickling of the palatal.You may choose between: quiet places, bars offering life-music, bands, which present alternative music, dance halls, discotheques and bars with open-air dance floors. The area of nightlife is being extended from Canto da Lagoa via Canto dos Araçás, the center, the Avenida das Rendeiras up to the way to Praia de Mole.It is going to happen that there will be some traffic jams beginning at Morro da Lagoa up to the end of the Avenida das Rendeiras.

On Sundays an art market used to take place in the center of Lagoa. More than eighty exhibitors have their products on sale und you may find all types of wooden learning toys up to tapestries and many other interesting things that have been produced by arts and crafts.

Very next to that place you will find some comfortable cafés, where the inhabitants meet each other during wintertime in order to have a cup of coffee.
